From an interview with Stella Fornal.
My mother (Mary Duda) was a midwife and wanted me to become one.
With a 'feather case' she travelled to the US with some friends where she met Frank Fornal and married him.
She was a business woman; always had an idea for making money. She opened a skating rink. The children worked in a factory and operated the skating rink when they got home.
They ran a small dairy business and sold milk to get by.
She (Mary Duda) was known for her homemade bread with cheese and cream. She threw bread into the coal stove rather than using a pan like others making bread. The locals particularly enjoyed her bread. | DUDA Mary

He (Frank Fornal) was shot in the arm over a rabbit. The woman who shot him didn't want him hunting on her land. He saw her just as she was shooting at him and managed to turn out of the way, so that he was only shot in the arm.
He (Frank Fornal) ran a mile or so to a road to get someone to take him to the hospital. It didn't stop him from hunting. | FORNAL Frank Matthew
