Funeral Plans Pending For Army Sergeant, Wife

Funeral arrangements are not yet completed for Master Sgt. Donald L. Stahlman and his wife, Mrs. Fredesvinda (Brenda) Stahlman, who were killed Tuesday afternoon (September 13, 1966) near Grove City. Arrangements are in charge of the Joseph Reinsel Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 pm today.

He enlisted in February 1948 and had completed about four year’s service in the Philippines only recently before being granted his leave. He and his wife and their son, Donald, were en route home from Manila when Sergeant and Mrs. Stahlman were killed along with Sergeant Stahlman’s uncle, Harry R. Lytle Jr.

Newspaper files show that Sergeant Stahlman was named outstanding non-commissioned officer of the year in the Air Force Advisory Group to the Republic of Korea. The honor was conferred on him for his exemplary conduct and performance of duty.

He was married in 1949 to the former Fredesvinda (Brenda) M. Pabalon of Calamba Lunga, The Philippines. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stahlman Sr. of Oil City; his son Donald Stahlman Jr.; a brother, Joseph, stationed at Griffith Air Force Base in Rome, NY. Mrs. Stahlman is survived by two sisters and three brothers and her son Donald. Funeral arrangements will be announced.
